A place to Create HARMONY
Hear from students who have learned to apply
The R.E.A.C.H. Program tools and techniques
to improve their lives at school and away.
The R.E.A.C.H. Program
is designed to educate students and educators, parents and children,
co-workers and management, and people from all walks of life to address and manage anger
& negative behavior with easy to practice tools and techniques. Nothing else is like it.
The R.E.A.C.H. Program
is simple, inexpensive to implement, not time consuming, used in all aspects of life,
and effectively modifies negative behavior as it arises to Create Harmony!
“I would definitely utilize the program with kids that were ESE and had cognitive level at 1st grade. One student that is extremely aggressive and noncompliant to adults with no fear of consequences responded well to the soft delivery of ‘Harmony techniques."
“Exposed…saw it working…students responded positively for several weeks …[unfortunately,] I didn’t pick up the reigns-using ‘Harmony techniques’ once Paula completed her position.”
“Using the R.E.A.C.H. techniques, eliminating the anger with struggling students, may help because the students would feel less inclined to argue back and forth. That way they feel less threatened.”
"In my 30 years of teaching Gifted and Exceptional Students, I have tried many different classroom management programs such as behavior modification, assertive discipline, and CHAMPS. These programs were helpful but do not work for every student in every situation. The R.E.A.C.H. program taught my students to take responsibility for their actions. It helped them to choose positive actions rather than negative reaction. The R.E.A.C.H. Program became a way of life not just a behavior program for school. My students reminded each other to “keep it real” and “remember harmony”. As I use The R.E.A.C.H. Program it creates positive interactions in my classroom and creates harmony as my students are actively engaged and learning. Using the R.E.A.C.H. Program increases learning and decreases the amount of time I spend managing the students. Since it actually creates life style changes it is very easy to implement and super effective."
"I attribute my 13 years of success as a Substitute Teacher for Broward County Schools of Florida to The REACH Program. The tools and techniques, which address anger and unacceptable behavior with students, have helped me to practice calm control and harmony during difficult situations. The most fulfilling part of my job is witnessing hard-to-reach students using the tools, and showing improved behavior choices. There are many students that have responded positively to The Program. To illustrate just a few examples, the following individuals displayed great turnarounds.
An ESE student attending Falcon Cove Middle School, 'Elias,' stands out in my mind. He was verbally and physically combative with adults. When taught the 'Harmony' breathing technique, he responded positively to me, as well as, his regular teacher, with calm and compliant behavior.
One high school student that I'll never forget, 'Andy,' attended Hallandale Adult Community Center. He was extremely angry, would enter the classroom pacing, and often verbally attacked and sometimes even charged at students and teachers. He completed many behavior writing assignments throughout the 90 days I covered his class. By the time I completed the position, he had written me an apology for his past behavior, and showed compliance, respect, and productivity. According to his math coach teacher, he was even able to pass the FCAT!
A West Hollywood Elementary School student, 'Laney,' I consider a success story. I first met her in third grade. She had great difficulty with focusing, following directions, and productivity. She also displayed low self-esteem and lack of motivation. I covered her class on a regular basis throughout her third grade year. She did complete many behavior writing assignments for lack of cooperation, as well as, received pep talks on believing in herself, that she is smart and that she can do it. Two years later, as a fifth-grader, she has blossomed into a motivated, responsible, hardworking, and cooperative student. She is a great example of a student who learned to believe in herself by using The REACH Program tools."
